Guitarist to conclude faculty Music@Apex performances

Guitarist Tim Phelan will perform as role of the RBC Foundation Music@Noon series on Nov. 6.

Fans of Queen are in for a treat during the next RBC Foundation Music@Noon concert.

Guitarist Tim Phelan volition take the stage of the Cairns Recital Hall on Tuesday, Nov. vi with an arrangement of Maverick Rhapsody by Niagara composter Floyd Turner.

The performance volition also include Turner's Twelve Preludes too equally solo guitar works by Tárrega, Villa-Lobos and Bach.

Phelan is a classical guitarist, conductor, composer, arranger and educator currently teaching at Brock University and Mohawk College. At the historic period of xviii, he made his CBC recording debut as concerto soloist with Orchestre Symphonique de Québec. Since then, he has been heard in solo, concerto and chamber music performances over CBC Radio and Television, Radio French republic, Radio Caribbean and Cuban National Television set and Radio.

The Section of Music invites faculty, staff, students and the community to come and experience his performance. The Music@Noon Series features costless, one-hour concerts that occur most Tuesdays at apex during the bookish year at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.

For the first time in the Department of Music's history, we are proud to present our newest ensemble. Under the direction of George Cleland, the Cord Orchestra combines university students and community members in the performance of standard masterworks and bottom-known gems of the string repertoire.

This weekend the Department of Music is presenting ii spectacular concerts that will surely exist amongst the highlights of the fall season.

On Friday Nov. 10, as part of the Walker Cultural Leader Serial, Encore! Professional Concert Serial presents: The Walker Quartet with kinesthesia pianist Karin Di Bella. The Walker Cultural Leader Serial was generously founded by Marilyn I. Walker.

Now in its 2nd season, the Section of Music's resident Walker Cord Quartet and Karin Di Bella nowadays a program of two of the almost iconic works in the string quintet repertoire, the Piano Quintets past Schumann in E-flat Major and Shostakovich in Yard Small-scale.

This concert takes place on Fri November. 10, 2017 in the Partridge Concert Hall at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Middle, starting at 7:xxx pm. For more information, please visit the Department concert events webpage and the ExperienceBU page.

Then on Saturday Nov. eleven every bit part of our standing celebration of Canada's 150 year of Confederation, the FirstOntario Performing Arts Heart is once again the venue for the ever-popular Guitar Extravangaza III including a special Canada 150 performance of Carpe Noctem.

Brock Academy'south annual celebration of the guitar commences at vii:30 pm on Saturday Nov. 11 in the Cairns Recital Hall.  An orchestra of lx guitars comprised of Brock students, local amateurs and professionals will be directed by Brock Academy Guitar Instructor, Timothy Phelan. Special guest soloists include Matthew McAllister (Scotland) and Emma Rush (Canada).  The concert features a tribute to the late Warren Stirtzinger with George Kane (USA) and James Bryan McCollum (Canada), music composed by Timothy Phelan and the World Premiere of Carpe Noctem – a six-movement work written especially for this occasion past Niagara composer Floyd Turner.
